Philippine National Flag Day 2022

Today, I stand proud for PHILIPPINE NATIONAL FLAG DAY.

I got this rare opportunity to stand close and touch the original Fernando Amorsolo's painting depicting the making of the Philippine flag in HongKong (so it is made in Hong Kong, or can I say 'Made in China' like most of our wares and food supplies).

This framed original painting of Confeccion de la Standarte Nacional (Making of the Philippine Flag) can still be found until now in the ILCC Tower in Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

In the painting, three women (symbolic of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) are sewing the Filipino flag. This depiction, however, is not the actual scene when the flag was created. This is just an artistic and poetic visual expression of Fernando Amorsolo. Notice also what you can see through the window, the setting out there is of typical Philippine scene. Amorsolo put this accent to make it feel as if the flag was sewn in Nayong Pilipino.

Photos taken in December 2009.
