Edgie Polistico is a self-made Filipino lexicographer, who started compiling vocabularies of Philippine vernaculars at the age of 14. His compilation inspired him to write the code and design a software application for his Cebuano-English Dictionary and registered his copyright for it with the National Library, Manila in 2007. His book, the Philippine Food, Cooking, and Dining Dictionary, published by Anvil Publishing in 2016, was chosen among the "World Best Culinary Books" of the international 22nd Gourmand Book Awards in 2016. The book also won two more prestige awards: the Best Book On Food award of the 36th National Book Awards in 2017, and the 39th Gintong Aklat Awards in 2018. Edgie travelled a lot and visited almost all the towns in the Philippines for 30 years now that enabled him to gather information, document food events, took photographs, shoot videos, know different names of regional dishes, delicacies, ingredients, food resources, and local ways of cooking and dining.
